Albania is a country in Southeastern Europe. Prince Wilhelm zu Wied was chosen to become the king of Albania on 21 February 1914. He arrived in Durrës, the temporary capital, on 7 March 1914. On 3 September 1914, Wilhelm zu Wied fled because of the Peasant Revolt, an uprising of Albanian Muslims against the monarchy which advocated for a return to Ottoman rule. In the southern part of Albania, the Greek population rebelled and established the Autonomous Republic of North Epirus. In the autumn of 1914, the Greek Army occupied southern Albania. The Italians occupied Vlorë and portions of northern Albania were occupied by the Serbian Army.
